2009 Season Starts Off With Surprises …
    1/4/2009
The 2009 SAMDRL Series 1 Points Race ended with wins from a familiar face, an old face and a pot winner!  The 25 car Bracket field saw young Chris Olsen return to the track, after a lengthy hiatus, with a superb effort, meeting up with equally young Cody Markowski in the finals.  Cody got the ole itchy finger by a mere .001, giving the race to Chris.  In the 2.50 class, Jeff Schmidt and Darron Legnon picked up where they left off in 2008, with Jeff taking the narrow holeshot win.  Not only was the racing action hot,  Pam Legnon decided not to let the .400 Perfect Light Award build up too much and dropped a perfect reaction time to claim the fresh pot.   2009 is shaping up to be another exciting racing season!
    2008 Goes Out With A Bang !!! Bring On 2009 !!!!!
    12/282008
A somewhat cool and blustery day greeted racers for the last race of the 2008 racing season.  This race would also award racers with double points!  What racers did not know was that this day would become a racers appreciation day thrown by the SAMDRL.  Throughout the day, prizes and gifts were handed out to all that attended.  Through the wonderful generosity of Clark and Kathy from Hobbytown USA in San Antonio, HPI, RJ Speed and O'Reilly Auto Parts, everyone walked away a winner with prizes ranging from gift certificates, hats, drag bodies and scratch off tickets.  But more was to come!  Barbeque was also in the air as the wonderful hostess and Track Manager, Michelle Scharf, made sure all that came were fed and fed well, with an assortment for fixin' from the chuck wagon.  Um'um! Good stuff!  Once all the qualifying had been completed, a final prize was handed out: a brand new Spectrum DX3S radio system!  Darron Legnon was the excited recipient of this award and I'm sure he and Pam will put it to good use.  Congrats!  Now it was time to get down to racing!
With double points at stake, it was anybody's race to win (or lose!).  Jeff Schmidt had a pretty good strangle hold on the competition, with a commanding lead on the pack.  Even though he scored 20 points less than #2 Kevin Schneider, his B-side victory sealed the deal for his Nomad to take home the 3rd points series trophy.  Oh, he also won the A-side!  Talk about the complete package!  The 2.50 Index class was no slouch either!  Pam Legnon's march to the A-side victory gave her a 4 point lead over reigning #1 Michelle Scharf and the 2.50 Trophy!  Congrats to everyone for some spectacular racing action!  Speaking of which, several racers were neck and neck for the .400 Perfect Light Award.  Chris Markowski dropped a .404 during 1st round of Bracket to set the pace for the rest, then, dropped a .401 to pretty much seal the deal.  But nobody told Brandon Bass, who spanked the tree with a perfect .400 light against Chris (who dropped a .403 light!) and claimed all the money and prizes that accompanied this incredible achievement!  Way to go drivers!  To round off the

night, IMDRA trophies were handed out to those drivers in attendance for their excellence during the World Finals and throughout the 2008 racing season.  These drivers included Jeff Schmidt, Kevin Schneider, Chris Alcoser and Kip Scharf.  Congrats on a job well done.  With the year winding down and the engines silenced for the moment, we would like to wish everyone a safe and Happy New Year.  Let's make 2009 even more successful than 08!  Thank you for you participation, efforts and support throughout the years!
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year From the SAMDRL !!!!

The San Antonio Model Drag Racing League wants to wish everyone a very safe and happy holiday season as we bid farewell to the 2008 racing season.  With one more race left to contend, it is anybody's race to win, with double points being offered during the December 27th grand finale.  To make matters even more enjoyable, one racer competing in this race will take home the .400 Perfect Light Award package, which includes numerous car and racing  DVD's, Magazines, decals, a Litespeed Engineering Top Alcohol back plate, pit goodies and tools, one of which is a Black & Decker 20 piece Versa Pak Cordless Pivot Driver set!  Now, if that isn't incentive enough, there's always the money!  That's right!  This weekend, the cost to enter each vehicle in the Perfect Light Club will be one dollar  a car, thus increasing the final total to a staggering amount!  Make plans to attend and hang out with the best group of racers, family and friends around!  Gates will open at 10:00 am
for a special test and tune period.  A new group photo will be taken at 12:00 noon so bring all your cars!  Qualifying will get started at 2:00 pm.  To everyone that has competed or just visited Litespeed Raceway, Michelle and I want to thank you for  a spectacular 2008 season and are very excited for the upcoming 2009 racing season.
    Second Racer claims $100.00       Hat-Trick Win !!!!
    12/13/2008
Jeff Schmidt did what only John Schneider could do back in December of 2007….win 3 races back to back to back, and claimed the $100.00 bounty placed on this deed.  Jeff's ultra consistent Nitro Nomad outlasted a total of 76 drivers and 15 rounds of racing action to pocket the dough.  Congrats on a job well done!
.400 Club Prizes To Be Handed Out Before Years End….
    11/302008
If no racer claims the .400 prize before the end of this racing season, it will be awarded to the racer coming closest to .400 without going under on the series finally on December 27th.  In addition to the cash, there are numerous goodies that have been donated including tools, magazines and DVD's!
